This possession game is another of the exercises I have ran with my U14 team during the pre-season training sessions.
The team with the possession at the begining must build up from the goakeeper.
The main goal, however, is to create numerical advantage during the positive transition phases, if the defending team wins the ball back.

Two teams of 3 players each are placed in a small sided pitch (30×20 m), with an additional area of 30×5 m, with two free players inside.
The goal for the team in possession is to build up the moves from the goalkeeper and to finish in the minigoal.
If the defending team recovers the ball, the two free players create numerical advantage; the first one as “play-maker”, the second one running inside the main space and creating a 4 + 1 against 3 duel during the positive transition phase and the following counterattack.
Variation: The two free players can be outnumbered defenders inside their area (2 v 3), if the first team with possession wins the 3 v 3 duel and dribble over the end line of the main space. If the free players recover the ball, they can start the positive transition phase and the following counterattack.
